The present study aimed to explore the various festivals and ritual sacrifices observed by the Kutia Kandha tribe of Odisha. Using descriptive research methods, the study gathered responses through observation, interviews, and secondary data from different sources. Festivals among the Kutia Kandha tribe are occasions of great joy, unity, and cultural celebration. They mark important milestones such as harvests, changes in seasons, religious observances, and community gatherings. These festivals provide opportunities for the tribe to come together, reconnect with their heritage, strengthen social bonds, and pass down cultural knowledge to younger generations. Ritual sacrifices hold a significant place in the religious practices of the Kutia Kandha tribe.

Industrialization has profoundly impacted agriculture and human health in India. Rapid industrialization and urbanization transformed agricultural practices through mechanized farming, monocultures, agrochemicals, and GMOs, boosting productivity but causing soil degradation, biodiversity loss, pollution, and food safety issues. Increased industrial animal product consumption contributed to chronic diseases. Meanwhile, industrial pollution directly harmed human health via contamination. As India’s population grows, sustainably balancing agricultural output, environmental protection, and nutritional quality emerges as a crucial challenge. This article reviews evidence on these issues and discusses potential solutions through sustainable farming practices, environmental regulation, and enhanced healthcare. Managing industrial development to safeguard the environment and population health will be critical to India’s food security.

The significance of good and effective governance is acknowledged as a critical factor in reducing disaster risks. Numerous stages of governance, ranging from international to local often interact with each other to address social, economic, and environmental issues. In this paper, I explore the path of the state of Odisha’s DRR strategy – a move from a response-focused approach to a preventative one as well as how it integrated governance with DRR.

This study delves into the health implications for workers employed in India’s cement industry. Despite the cement industry’s pivotal role in global economic development, its manufacturing processes generate significant environmental burdens, including air pollution from dust, gases, noise, and vibrations. Cement plants are notorious for exposing workers to quartz, cement dust, and other harmful substances, which have been linked to respiratory ailments such as chronic bronchitis, silicosis, and interstitial lung diseases. This research is based on a comprehensive review of existing literature, including academic articles, online resources, and expert opinions. The findings indicate a strong correlation between cement industry exposure and a range of health issues, extending beyond respiratory problems to encompass skin, eye, and heart conditions. Prolonged exposure can lead to reduced life expectancy and a general decline in workers’ health. The study concludes by proposing strategies to safeguard the well-being of cement industry workers.
