The use of technological devices to carryout routinely performed tasks in the workplace (office automation) has been embraced by organizations as a competitive strategy. However, introduction of technology in the workplace comes with plethora of experiential setbacks, one of which is stress resulting from the use of digital technologies in the work place (digit-stress). This research is focused on examining the empirical link between digit-stress and employee’s behavioural outcome. The predicting variable digit-stress was operationalized with hyper-tasky, job demand and job control whereas, presenteeism and job-dissatisfaction were used as measures of the criterion variable. 179 employees drawn from six commercial banks were used for the study, data collected where inferentially analyzed with Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation with the aid of SPSS version 23. Finding shows that digit-stress has significant relationship with employee’s behavior outcomes as hyper-tasky, job demand and job control all showed a positive significant correlation with presenteeism and job dissatisfaction. Based on the results, the study recommends that employee’s job should periodically be reengineered, enriching its content to arouse their satisfaction on the job, and streamline tasks upfront so they can have time to complete them without undue pressure. Also, Employee’s should be empowered with some level of control on how and when tasks are to be performed timely.

Keywords: Digit-stress, employee’s behavioural outcome, job control, job demand, presenteeism and job-dissatisfaction.

The present study endeavors to estimate in quantitative terms, the role played by Total Factor Productivity (TFP) as a source of economic growth in the overall Indian economy, spanning 2000-01 to 2020- 21 using Index Number Approach with special reference to Bihar and Jharkhand, two adjoining developing states of India. The analysis has revealed that in a majority of sectors of Jharkhand state and the overall Indian economy, output growth was faster than input growth, but none of the sectors in Bihar experienced such a phenomenon. However, Jharkhand reported lower capital growth (0.91%) in comparison to 6.35% in Bihar and 5.50% in the overall Indian economy. Further, in both the states, TFP contributed the most to output growth during the initial ten years, while the labor force acted as a prime mover during the last ten years of the study period. However, in the Indian economy as a whole, TFP continued to be the major source of economic growth during the entire study span of two decades. Thus, although the Government policy seems to have paid dividends in the country as a whole, there have been considerable variations in the pace and extent of implementation of the policy across these two states. Consequently, for states (like Bihar) to surge ahead, it is important to address regional problems to enhance TFP, which has become virtually synonymous with economic growth.

This study aims to examine the factors that influence the continuance intention to use e-wallets in Malaysia after the outbreak of COVID-19. This study integrates the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model with two unique variables (government support and physical distancing). There are 296 questionnaires collected from e-wallet users, and analysed through Multiple Linear Regression to verify the research model and hypotheses. The findings reveal that physical distancing is the most decisive factor influencing users to use e-wallets after the outbreak of COVID-19 in Malaysia. Social influence, facilitating conditions, government support significantly affect the continuance intention while effort expectancy is found to be insignificant in this study. This study developed an extended model to enrich future studies relating to e-wallets in a special situation. The finding provides suggestions for government agencies and e-wallet providers to seize the opportunity arising from the continuance intention of Malaysians to use e-wallets.

Ethiopian Youth Revolving Fund (YRF) loan was established with the objective to provide financial and technical assistance to unemployed youths in alleviating their economic and social difficulties by using the fund sustainably. However, the government and Oromia Credit and Saving Share Company (OCSSCo) reports(2017/218-2020/2021) show that loan repayment was not performed as expected for the reasons not yet scientifically studied and justified. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of perceived political environment variables on loan repayment performance and sustainability of YRF in Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. The study used cross-sectional descriptive and explanatory research design and the data was collected from 328 sample respondents in the selected area. STATA software version 16 was employed and Chi-square (X2) test of association was used to check the significant association among different explanatory variables and their effect on YRF loan repayment performance. The findings showed that variables such as initial time of fund release, perception that money is political kit, information asymmetry about fund, escorted systematic corruption, intervention of third party in fund approval, losses and damages of business due to political instability and strikes have affected loan repayment performance and sustainability of YRF at less than 5% level of significance. Finally, the government and OCSSCo are recommended to create sufficient public awareness to about the fund, provide adequate trainings and guidance and follow-up borrowers’ businesses. Government should also create a system that minimize unnecessary intervention on fund approval, eliminate bias and nepotism, make accountable officials for misconduct. It should be also develop fewer policies and legislative texts to govern the implementation of YRF and create a public- private partnership to implement and manage the fund keeping remote its hands from implementation of the fund but with adequate supervision to ensure the fund’s effectiveness and long-term sustainability,

TELEWORKING AS A BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY AND CONTINUITY STRATEGY: AN ASSESSMENT OF THE ZIMBABWEAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS SECTOR UNDER COVID-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has seen unprecedented changes to the way people conduct business and work whilst striving to reduce downtime and maintain or even increase productivity (Belzunegui- Eraso and Erro-Garcés, 2020). Long lockdown periods and the need to meet World Health Organisation (WHO) regulations for social distancing have necessitated that organisations instruct their employees to telecommute or work remotely from home in an effort to maintain business sustainability and continuity (OECD, 2020). This research explored how Zimbabwean telecommunications companies implemented teleworking as a business sustainability and continuity strategy in the Covid-19 pandemic environment. This study was qualitative in nature, employing a phenomenology philosophy. Thirty knowledgeable telecommunications managers and business leaders were invited to complete a detailed online questionnaire that helped draw conclusions to the objectives. Based on these questionnaires and some secondary data review, this study determined that teleworking was widely adopted by 97% of the telecommunications sector during the Covid-19 pandemic era. The implementation of telework and BCM processes was the required antidote to the decrease in productivity and threats to job security and business continuity presented by lockdowns. Teleworking guaranteed retention of employees, real estate and administrative cost savings, continued business operations and service delivery. In addition, telework helped curb the potential spread of the virus amongst employees and customers who would have congregated at the work place. Inconsistent supply of electricity, inadequate communication and collaboration tools and platforms as well as lack of ergonomic chairs and desks were the major factors indicated to be deterring effective and productive telework. The study also revealed that there was an increased demand for telecommunications products and services during the pandemic particularly on lock down periods. This was confirmed by POTRAZ (2021) in their first quarter abridged postal and telecommunications sector performance report. Customers had a new need for reliable internet connections to use when working from home, learning online and for entertainment. The businesses made efforts to ensure that their services were adhering to availability, reliability and dependability standards. There is a great need for the establishment of standards and policies to govern telework and BCM process and policy implementation in telecommunications companies for successful business continuity and sustainability.
