Doi No.: doi.org/10.46791/jgetib.2022.v02i01.02

The purpose of this paper is to assess the effect of consumption (consumer spending) on economic growth based on 222 countries/ territories in the world, while the effect of other variables that are also assumed to affect economic growth is statistically controlled. The four factors (patterns) of economic growth// identified are as follows: Factor 1/consumption-driven economy; Factor 2/Savings-based; Factor 3/oilresource based; Factor 4/government-spending. Empirical evidence shows the predominance of the consumption-driven economy in affecting economic growth across the world, developing, or developed. Eight variables were found significantly loaded in the pattern of the consumption- driven economy: (1) consumption (2) globalization (3) economic freedom (4) knowledge economy (5) global competitiveness (6) corruption, (7) foreign direct investment, and (8) economic growth. The consumption- driven economy is multidimensional in affecting economic growth. It was found significantly associated with not only economic g rowth but also globalization (both ‘domestic’ and ‘international’), corruption, economic freedom, knowledge economy, and foreign direct investment.

Creating an Inclusive Workplace: The Effectiveness of Diversity Training

BY :   Steven Royall, Vikkie McCarthy and Gloria J. Miller
Journal of Global Economy, Trade and International Business, Year: 2022,  Vol.2 (1),  PP.39-55

Doi No.: doi.org/10.46791/jgetib.2022.v02i01.03

The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of how companies approach diversity training in the workplace and effectiveness for fostering an inclusive workplace environment. Research indicates that resistance may accompany diversity training programs which may in turn undermine efforts to create inclusive workplace environments. By defining inclusion and differentiating between diversity and inclusion, we argue for a contemporary approach to developing diversity training in the workplace for creating an inclusive environment. Using theoretical frameworks for workplace training and development, organizational culture, and research related to diversity training programs, this paper presents a conceptual model for creating an inclusive workplace environment. This model indicates a reciprocal relationship between diversity training and an inclusive workplace culture that includes four dimensions of organizational culture: adaptability, involvement, mission, and consistency.

Few places in the world have the potential to offer various types of tourism within a small radius, as does Tahlequah, a small city nestled in the Western foothills the of Ozark mountains in Northeastern Oklahoma. Despite so much to offer, the city and its surroundings have shown little growth in the number of visitors to the area over the past several decades. This exploratory research looks at the current tourism scenario in Tahlequah, and the challenges’ the city and its neighborhood face in attracting tourists. It also suggests efforts needed to develop the tourism infrastructure in the region to make it a prime tourist destination from the perspective of the theory of planned behavior (TPB). The study is expected to create awareness among potential visitors, provoke thought among stake holders, and inform the decision makers; in addition to making contribution to the extant tourism literature about the area and its tourist potential.

Doi No.: doi.org/10.46791/jgetib.2022.v02i01.05

The aim of this paper is to analyze the nationalism and populism as the driving forces of economic deglobalization processes and regionalism. T he analysis departs from the assumption that the economic deglobalization processes responds to a more complex dynamic forces created by the economic, financial and the most recent health crisis that blocks the continuity of the economic globalization. Moreover, at the center of the analysis is the conceptualization that both globalization and deglobalization are two faces of the same coin, but with opposite driving forces. Nationalism and populism are the driving forces of deglobalization leading to find regional and more local solutions to economic growth, social and environmental problems.

Keywords: Economic deglobalization, localism, nationalism, populism, regionalism.
